Xiaomi Dethroned Apple from 2nd spot in Smartphone market

Samsung should be Worried,

phones

According to the report of Canalys, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is now the 2nd largest smartphone vendor globally. Xiaomi achieved this feat by replacing Apple.

According to the research, Xiaomi now has a 17% share of the global market of smartphones. The Chinese phone maker is now behind Samsung’s 19% and Apple is now down to 15% global market share.

Now, the Top 5 vendors are:

  1. Samsung
  2. Xiaomi
  3. Apple
  4. Oppo
  5. Vivo

All top 5 vendors grow their sales, but the most impressive sales increase is of Xiaomi. The Chinese smartphone maker managed to increase its sales volume by 83% in 2021 compared to 2020. Samsung experienced a 15% increase and Apple just by 1%.

International sales of Xiaomi are increasing tremendously. Xiaomi is largely slanting towards the mass smartphone marks. Its selling prices are almost 40% and 75% less than Samsung and Apple, respectively. Now, Xiaomi has the opportunity and its priority should be to grow its sales of high-end smartphones like Mi 11 Ultra.

In the last quarter, smartphone sales increased by 12%, globally. Recently, in 2019, Huawei crossed the market share of Apple. As a result, Huawei got the 2nd spot, but due to the bans imposed by the United States, Huawei eventually rolled out of the global competition.
