This was a terrible restriction from WhatsApp that chat transfer is only possible between the same operating system. It was annoying as well as frustrating. Now, WhatsApp is trying to resolve this inconvenience since April 2021.

Twitter handle of WABetaInfo shared screenshots shows an option Move chats to android (in iOS WhatsApp). Another screenshot showing that a message to the user about keeping your iPhone locked while the chat history is transferring. But, all details are talking about iOS to Android transfer; what about vice versa? WABetaInfo cleared that Android to iOS is possible too.

Google is developing an app (iOS app) switch to android which will be Android’s answer to Apple’s move to the iOS app. XDA Developers said that WhatsApps new move chats to android feature can be the part of Google’s (switch to android) app. XDA further said that Google may integrate the unreleased (chat transfer) feature.

Besides, the iOS to android transfer feature WhatsApp is working on a feature so users can transfer chat history to a different phone number. WhatsApp is continuously testing additional features to make its users feel convenient. According to reports, WhatsApp is testing multi-device support. After release, you would not need a connected phone to access WhatsApp from another device. Before that WhatsApp gives the option to hide online status to its business users. Currently, all these features are in testing, we are not clear when will WhatsApp release them as an official update.

WABetaInfo also doesn’t clear when will be this feature available. They just said: “in a future update.“ Let’s see if WhatsApp successfully resolves the long-time complaints of users.
