New design, more ports.
Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new ma mini powered by M1X to replace its Intel-based mac minis. Bloomberg’s reported Mark Gurman reported that a high-end mac with M1X (rumored name) chip in it is expected with an updated design and more ports in the “next several months.“
Last year Apple released a mac mini with its very M1 chip inside but that was not a high-end mac mini and also had less port than high-end Intel-powered mac mini.
The current M1-based mac mini is not a bad computer at all, but it has some limitations while being pushed through limits or subjected to pro use. Now, Gurman is surer that a new high-end M1based mac mini is coming.
Last fall, as part of its trio of initial Macs to transition over to Apple Silicon chips, the company updated the older Mac mini design with the M1 processor. The Mac mini is used for more basic tasks like video streaming, but many people use it as a software development machine, as a server, or for their video editing needs. Apple knows that, so it kept the Intel model around. Well, expect that to go away in the next several months with a high-end, M1X Mac mini. It will have an updated design and more ports than the current model.
Apple Leake Jon Prosser shared some renders of how will upcoming mac mini will look like.
