Quality issues are the major cause.
The next piece of the Apple Watch Series is facing some manufacturing issues and the release can be later than expected, says Nikkei and Bloomberg. The “Reported” delayed is due to the design complexities because of new rumored flat sides and a bigger screen.
“Manufacturers of Apple Watch 7, as the device is expected to be called, began small-scale production last week but encountered critical challenges in reaching satisfactory production performance, multiple people familiar with the situation said.”
Nikkie’s sources told that the production of the next Apple watch had begun but engineers encountered some “critical challenges in reaching satisfactory production performance.” Nikkie further said that the production is now “Temporarily halted,” engineers and suppliers are working to solve the issue to clear the path for mass production.
“All assemblers are facing similar problems in reaching satisfactory production performance based on the current industrial designs.”
Next Apple Watch reportedly will be called as “Apple Watch Series 7,” and have a screen size of 45mm, a more powerful CPU, and “flatter edges and display.” Bloomberg’s reporter Mark Gurman said in his Power On newsletter on Sunday. German said that Apple Watch Series 7 won’t have any health-related feature upgrade. Nikkei said that the new Apple Watch will have “Blood pressure measurement.” New features can also be the reason for the delay because engineers have to package more sensors and equipment in smaller spaces.
Apple is likely to announce the potential launch event in September. It is the possibility that Apple might not announce a new watch in the upcoming event.
