Android 12 and Your Phone, Are they Compatible?

Google’s latest mobile operating system, Android 12, is just about to land. As per rumors, Android 12 can be the biggest update for Android OS. Google’s primary purpose is to make Android OS smooth and fast. Because of this, Google wants Android 12 to fulfill its expectations.

Android 12 is in its ultimate stages of beta development. Google is yet silent about the release date of Android 12. But, if we compared the release dates of previous Android versions, we can say that it should be in August or September this year. But, the real question is, will your phone be compatible with Android 12? This question arose because Google is changing the minimum requirements to get Android 12 official support.

Let’s talk about the new performance requirement which Google wants your phone to meet to get Android 12.

Performance Requirements for Android 12 

Google says, your phone must meet the requirements according to Performance Class 12 to be qualified for the Android 12.

performance class is the collection of different capabilities of an Android device, which Google defines for each Android version.

It doesn’t mean that uses which quality for Performance class 11 cannot run Android 12. They can, but they will not get the full-fledged features.

Pixel Phones

Google’s policies say Google provides 3 years of OS updates for each Pixel phone. This is the most significant advantage of having a Pixel phone that you always get timely updates. As a result, Pixel phones which were released back in 2018 are the oldest devices to qualify to have an Android 12 update. So, Pixel 3, and Pixel 3XL are the oldest pixel phones to get Android 12 updates. Other latest Pixel phones like Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a (5G), and Pixel 5 are qualified for the new OS.

Samsung Phones

Samsung phones got Android 11 update along with UI 3 the last December. But, it is not clear which Samsung phones will get Updates yet. According to CNET, it is a good chance that Samsung’s top-end devices will get Android 12 update along with UI 4, in December.

High-end phones of Xiaomi, Oppo, One plus, Vivo, Sony, Asus are likely to get Android 12 updates. The phones which are eligible for Android 12 Beta are, Asus, Google Pixel, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Tecno, TCL, Vivi, Xiaomi, and ZTE. Check out more detail.
